Your donations are in good hands.

When you contribute, your money goes to:

Land Acquisition

The land we build on will cost money, both to purchase and to maintain.

Perpetual Care

The pyre itself needs to be built and maintained as well, as do surrounding structures (parking, fencing, bathrooms, etc).

Your money does NOT go to:

Salaries

Our board is made of volunteers who don’t draw a salary.

Administration Costs

Website fees, PO box renewals, and any costs associated with general nonprofit admin are privately covered.

Marketing

Digital and print advertising are either comped (thanks, Google Ads!) or paid out of pocket.

2025 Tax Documents

Form 990 is a required tax document for all tax-exempt organizations to report their income breakdown. Northern Pyre’s annual gross receipts are less than $50,000, so we are eligible to file Form 990-N to satisfy the IRS’s annual reporting requirement.

Form 990-N provides no financial data and is not digitized, so it isn’t included on third-party websites. However, a 2025 copy is available here.

3% Cover the Fee

Northern Pyre is a 501(c)(13), which means donors can deduct contributions they make to us under IRC Section 107(c)(5) if a) the contributions are voluntary, and b) are for our perpetual care fund. Making a donation does not guarantee cremation. Donors also cannot deduct contributions they make to us for the perpetual care of a particular lot. All that being said, your support is truly appreciated.
